The Three Musketeers

Richly packed with amorous heroes, unreachable heroines, kings, queens, cavaliers, and criminals in a whirlwind of adventure, espionage, conspiracy, murder, vengeance, love, scandal, and suspense, this swashbuckling tale of chivalry, honor, and daring-do is set in France during the 1620s. The Comte d'Artagnan, an impetuous young man pursuing glory; the seductively evil seductress "Milady"; the powerful and cunning Cardinal Richelieu; the weak King Louis XIII and his unhappy queen; and, of course, the three musketeers themselves, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, whose motto "all for one, one for all" has come to epitomize devoted friendship-all of these historical figures are given incredible life by Dumas. The Three Musketeers features a story that involves stolen diamonds, masked balls, pilfered letters, and, of course, amazing swordplay.
