"Tess of the d'Urbervilles" is a novel by Thomas Hardy, first published in 1891. Originally appeared in the highly censored and serialized version published by the British illustrated newspaper The Graphic. In 2006, the novel was included to the list of The Big Read, based on a survey conducted by the BBC.
