Dziady is a poetic drama by the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz (1798–1855), and one of the greatest works of both Polish and European Romanticism. The poet began writing it in 1823 but never completed it during his lifetime. The work is imbued with the ideas of Romanticism-particularly Polish Romanticism-closely tied to the national liberation struggle against the Russian Empire.
