Once envisaged as Imperial Russia's third capital after Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Ukraine's fourth largest city - Dnipro - is shedding its reputation as a place closed to outsiders.
The city was founded by Catherine the Great in the late 18th century and grew rapidly in 20th century as a center of industry. The aerospace industry flourished and soviet monumental architecture came to dominate the skyline. During the cowboy capitalism of the "wild '90s" Dnipro emerged as as a key economic and political hub and maker of oligarch's fortunes. Today the city is forming a new image - it is a modern city, in which history and innovation coexist. With this book, we are pleased to share with you our love to Dnipro!
The book is neither a guide nor a manual. Rather, it's an insight into the city we adore - wonderful, fascinating and strange.
