The Brangwen sisters, Ursula and Gudrun, are the main characters of D.H. Lawrence's novel Women in Love (1920). Ursula is a schoolteacher, and Gudrun is an artist. They meet two men who live nearby - a school inspector Rupert Birkin and a coalmine heir Gerald Crich. The friendship of young people gradually develops into a romantic relationship.
